🌊 Summer 2025 Internship Opportunity

Are you a high school or undergraduate student living on the Oregon Coast?
Are you passionate about marine science, conservation, education, or community outreach?

The Cape Perpetua Collaborative is looking for two enthusiastic interns to join our team for Summer 2025!

🐚 What You’ll Gain as a Cape Perpetua Intern:

  • Hands-on experience in environmental education, visitor engagement, and conservation outreach

  • Mentorship from professionals at the United States Forest Service (USFS) and Cape Perpetua Collaborative (CPC)

  • The opportunity to design and present an independent project that aligns with your interests

  • A chance to contribute to public education around Oregon’s stunning coastal ecosystems

🔍 Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with visitors at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center alongside USFS staff

    • Answer questions about scenic sites, trail access, tide pools, wildlife, and more

    • Promote safe, respectful, and sustainable interactions with the landscape

  • Complete a summer-long independent project on a topic of your choosing

    • Example project: Assist the USFS in developing interpretive content for new visitor center exhibits (scheduled remodel in Fall 2025)

  • Present your project and internship experience in the fall during a community talk in our Young Wavemaker series

 

📌 Details at a Glance:

  • Pay: $16/hour

  • Hours:

    • 1–2 days per week (10am–3pm) tabling at the visitor center

    • Additional 1–2 hours/week working on your independent project

  • Schedule flexibility: Workdays can be arranged based on your availability in coordination with CPC and USFS staff

  • Location: Cape Perpetua Visitor Center (and potentially other local outreach locations)
