About the event

OSU student Riley Bellows will tell us about their work on an Oregon coast critter we don't often hear about: the aggregating anemone, and how they are handling a changing oceanic environment.

Climate change is expected to strongly affect life in the intertidal zone, but sea anemones may fare better than many other species. Despite this, local sea anemone populations haven’t been well monitored. To fill that gap, we’ve spent five years tracking Aggregating Anemone (Anthopleura elegantissima) colonies along the Oregon Coast to see whether their numbers are growing or shrinking, giving us rare long‑term insight into how these animals naturally change over time.
